Year 2 continue to learn about The Great Fire of London during our history lessons this term. Today, the children looked at the make up of houses in 1666. We noticed that they were built very close to each other and with a lot of wood. We learnt about wattle and daub as well as jetty and galleries. The children then put this understanding into answering the question How did the houses help spread the fire? 2KW showed fantastic understanding with this. Well done team!

Year 4 had a wonderful afternoon listening to the author Harriet Muncaster introducing us to her new book, The Diary of Wiska Wildflower - The New School. The children were entranced by her quirky little characters and the incredible miniature sets Harriet had made to illustrate her books. Many thanks to Harriet Muncaster and Our Bookshop for organising this event.

Here is a round up of some of our learning from another busy week in 1NK!
In PSHE we talked about people we know and trust that can help us. We drew around our hands and then wrote or drew different people for each finger to represent people who we can approach if we need help. We also pulled faces showing different emotions after talking about how body language can sometimes show how others are feeling.
We practised proportions in art, drawing lines on our face shapes to help us position facial features more accurately.
We also enjoyed practising our fine motor skills with tracing, cutting, playdough and picking up pom poms with tweezers.
Well done everyone!

Last week was another busy week! in 1RH
In English we started to innovate the story of The Gingerbread Man by making up our own characters.
In Maths we continued our understanding of 'Base Ten' to help us recognise and identify large numbers up to 100.
In Geography we learnt about Wales and how it is part of the United Kingdom just like England. We have enjoyed saying 'Bore da' at morning register!
In Science we explored the final two animal groups - fish and amphibians - learning their key features.
In amongst all that learning, we also managed to find time to let off a bit of steam on the tangle frame, practise our handwriting and begin our class book, The Magic Finger.
