Growing and Achieving Together

Community   Respect   Self-Belief   Ambition

Our Statement of Core Values has evolved after a period of consultation among all members of the Grove Road community.

Towards the end of the Autumn Term 2014 all families were invited to respond to a special Home Learning task that focused upon identifying the values that they saw as central to what makes Grove Road special.  We received a wide variety of responses from both children and parents.

In January 2015 the staff and Governing Body also contributed to discussions and presentations about the values that they recognised in school at present and also those that they wished to identify as core values to shape our future.

The result has been the creation of the Tree of Values you see below.

At our roots we have the values of respect, self-belief and ambition.  These feed into the strength of our community, our trunk.  These are our core values upon which we base our teaching and learning and our vision for the future.

The leaves display the values and behaviours that our core values promote.

  • Independence
  • Determination
  • Communication
  • Curiosity
  • Friendship
  • Achievement
  • Confidence
  • Creativity

These leaves encompass many of the values that were consistently highlighted by both the children and their parents/carers.  It is here too that you find our four Learning Habits which have already become central to our language of learning at Grove Road.

Overarching our Tree of Values, is our clear statement of intent, our shared purpose at Grove Road, that as a community we should be Growing and Achieving Together.
