FOUNDATION STAGE 1
FLEXIBLE NURSERY

Nursery

At Grove Road Primary School we offer flexible nursery sessions and this information will explain how we administer them.  If you have any questions, please phone the school and speak to Mrs Sharon Wheeler, the Nursery Administrator.

Every child is entitled to 5 government funded sessions per week, these sessions are 3 hours long and you can request which days you would like your child to attend. They are then set for the year.  Sessions and lunch clubs can only be increased termly and only if there is availability.

You may request 5 morning or 5 afternoon sessions or a combination of both, subject to availability.

You can also use two sessions in one day and by buying a lunch club session at £5 (packed lunch to be provided by you), your child can stay for a whole day.  Hot lunches are also available at an additional cost to the lunch club.

Below are some examples of how you could use your five funded sessions, additional sessions and lunch clubs.  Hot meals are charged separately and are not included in the calculations.

We require your child to attend a minimum of 5 sessions per week and there are no restrictions to how many additional sessions you buy as long as we have availability on the days you’ve requested.  Once sessions have been agreed, they cannot be altered during the term.  Additional sessions can only be added at the end of each term, ready for the start of the next term.  We do have some children full time in Nursery.

Hot lunches are charged separately and you can get information regarding hot school lunches from the main school office. We cannot accept nursery vouchers for the cost of hot school meals, but we can accept them for additional sessions and lunch clubs fees.

Invoices for additional sessions, lunch club and hot lunches are sent out half-termly, in advance.  You will receive an invoice during the last week of a half term for additional sessions and lunch clubs for the next half term.  Payment is due by the end of the first week of the new half-term.

Prompt payment is required for all additional sessions and lunch clubs as per our charging policy.

Absence through sickness or holiday in term time will not be refunded.  You will not be charged for any additional sessions when the school is closed.

Additional sessions are charged at £15 per session and the session times are below.

Flexible Drop Off/Pick Up

We also offer flexible drop off and pick up at the beginning and the end of the day, to allow your child to settle more easily each day.

Drop Off                                              Between 8.30am – 9.00am

AM Sessions Finish                             11.30am

Lunch Club                                          11.30am – 12.30pm

PM Sessions Start                               12.30pm

Pick Up                                               Between 3.00pm – 3.30pm

We encourage your child to be independent by getting their own shoes and coats on and find the flexible drop off and pick up helps them with this.

Early Years Foundation Stage 1 Curriculum

In order to be able to deliver the Early Years Foundation Stage 1 curriculum we require a minimum attendance of 5 sessions per week.  This enables us to deliver the correct curriculum and monitor their progress.  You will need to specify how many funded sessions you will be using per term on the “parent declaration form”.

Our provision ensures all children have equal opportunities to access a varied curriculum which ever sessions they attend.  Wherever possible we suggest a minimum of 5 half day sessions,  spread across 5 days.

Our Nursery operates a one term intake in September, Deferrals of one term (January start) can be requested, but most parents currently opt to take advantage of the September start.

Clothing

Children in Nursery are not required to wear school uniform but are encouraged to wear a nursery school polo shirt.  They can get rather messy and are also encouraged to go out to play in most weathers, so appropriate clothing is essential.  Please make sure that all your clothes and shoes are labelled clearly with your child’s name.  We also ask that you send in a pair of indoor shoes; which can be black plimsolls, trainers or sandals and appropriate clothing for outdoor play (eg: a suitable coat for the weather conditions).

Book Bags

We would like all children to purchase a book bag to enable them to bring home reading books.  This would help keep our books in good condition for all children to use.

Book bags and polo shirts can be ordered from Mapac®, our on-line uniform supplier at:
