Julian Crane - Chair, Co-opted Governor

JC

Profession: Head of Internal Audit for a global business that provides solutions and services for human resources management; Trustee Director of Pension Scheme; Qualified Chartered Accountant.

As Chair of Governors, I seek to use my personal and professional abilities to lead the governing body effectively and harness the skills and experience of all governors to best use. My aim is for the governing body to provide outstanding support and challenge, in equal measure, to the school and its leaders to help drive improved school performance; and help every child achieve their full potential and develop a lifelong love of learning.

Married to Victoria with a daughter and two sons. I love family life and outdoor pursuits, especially camping, cycling, running, skiing, swimming, tennis, travelling and walking coast-paths. Qualified football referee.

Julian Cacchioli - Parent Governor

governor JC

As a member of the Governing Body, I am committed to supporting the excellent team at Grove Road School. Together we are focused on creating an exceptional school for the children of Tring, both now and for years to come, underpinned by a culture of continuous improvement. Nothing is more important for parents and the wider community than the very best education for their children.

I will bring passion, energy and 20+ years of international PR and communications experience to the team to ensure our school continues to challenge the children to be the best they can be, by encouraging curiosity and a love of learning, emphasising the importance of physical education and instilling a sense of fairness, tolerance and respect.

Helen Dear- Parent Governor

Profession: Primary School Teacher
I have recently moved to Tring, having been influenced by the friendly community feel of the area, but mainly for the local surrounding schools. I decided to place my three children at Grove Road and they are currently in Years 5, 3 and 2.  I wanted to become a Parent Governor to not only take an interest but be actively involved in the learning and academic development of all children at Grove Road School.

When I am not busy with my own children or working, I enjoy running and have recently begun to test my erratic tennis skills with some coaching.

Elizabeth Dolton- Parent Governor

ed

I have been a parent Governor at Grove Road Primary School since November 2015, and am a regular visitor to the school.
Prior to having my two daughters, I worked in retail where I held various management positions.  Since leaving I have spent my time working as a contractor and freelance, in communications, marketing and project management, in order to balance my time being with and bringing up my family.
With my children attending Grove Road, I want to use my business skills to help and assist the school leadership team in making Grove Road the best school it can be.  By working together, I believe this will enable all its pupils to achieve their full potential, and provide them with the foundations for a happy and confident life ahead.

Vicky Edwards - Co-opted Governor

VE

Profession:  Chief People Officer for The Grass Roots Group
In my current role I am responsible for all people related activities, from attraction & recruitment, learning & development through to the retention and engagement of our global employees. I wanted to become a Governor to use the skills I’ve learned to give something back to the community in which I work.
In my spare time you’ll see me out & about - running, cycling or walking my dog to tire him out to give me some peace & quiet !

Vicki Jeffery - Parent Governor

As a parent governor I want to represent the interests of all parents and hope to promote Grove Road as an all-inclusive school with a focus on developing pupils to become happy, confident young people who can realise their own potential.

In my current role teaching children with severe learning difficulties, I have wide experience of the primary curriculum as well as knowledge of management, personnel and leadership. I hope these skills will enable me to support the school to achieve at being the best it can be.

Kevin Kumar - Parent Governor

Governor Profile

Profession: University Manager
I have two children at Grove Road and my wife works at the school as a TA.  I stood to become a Parent Governor as I wanted to help the school continue to improve and provide its pupils with a well-rounded, fulfilling education. I'll draw on my professional experience as the Head of a Vice-Chancellor’s office at a Russell Group university, which gives me an appreciation of the challenges and rewards of providing an excellent education.

Janet Langdon- LA Governor

Janet Langdon

I am a retired Headteacher and joined the Grove Road Governing Body after being appointed as the Interim Headteacher from December 2011 – August 2012. I was delighted to be able to continue to be part of the Grove Road journey and support the drive for improvement, ensuring that every child reaches their full potential. I believe strongly in children being happy at school in a safe, supportive environment, giving them the skills to continue to learn and to become confident citizens.

I enjoy travel, reading, going to the cinema and theatre, walking, watching rugby and lots more - now that I have the time!

Chloe Lea- Staff Governor

Profession: Teacher

I joined the Grove Road team in September 2013 as an NQT after completing a BA (Hons) degree in Primary Education. I am currently in my fourth year of teaching at Grove Road as a Year 1 class teacher. I am the Science and Environment Curriculum Development Team Leader, where I oversee Science, Humanities, Modern Foreign Languages, Computing as well as the development of the extensive outdoor area we have here.

I joined the governing body in my third year of teaching at Grove Road as it presented itself as an excellent opportunity for me to gain more experience and understanding of wider leadership responsibilities, beyond my classroom role. It also provides me the opportunity to contribute to decisions that are made by the governing body and to build strong links between the governing body and the staff of the school.

Away from work you will find me spending time with my family, socialising with friends, travelling, exercising, reading, and cooking!

Paul Lindars - Vice Chair, Co-opted Governor

PL

Profession: Operations manager for a commodity trader.

As a parent of three children who attended Grove, I joined the governors to try and support the school in making them and their classmates love to learn. Although all my children are now in secondary education, I continue to act as a governor as I am passionate that all children should achieve their potential.

I live in Tring but trudge into London each day as part of the commuter pack. To fill my weekends, I watch a lot of Rugby and Football

Jo Passingham - Co-opted Governor

JP

Profession: Finance Director at The Prince’s Trust
I am pleased to be joining the Governing Body of Grove Road School and welcome the opportunity to give something back to my local community. I have lived in Tring for eight years and have two children who were both at Grove and are now at Tring School. I have a keen interest in ensuring that children of all ages are given the chance to fulfil their potential. Providing high quality education and a safe school environment is key to this.

As Finance Director of The Prince’s Trust, a charity which supports disadvantaged young people throughout the UK and a volunteer at Tring Youth Club, I have a good understanding of the challenges that many teens face. One of the reasons I chose to be a Governor at Grove is that I am keen to be able to use my experience to influence the quality of education for younger children, in the hope that their challenges later in childhood are reduced.
